The G1 is the humanoid you can buy today without a waitlist. It's compact, quick on its feet and famous for its flips and kung-fu demos, and it's sold through Unitree and authorized dealers.
What it's good at
Showing off: agile walking, balance recovery and choreographed moves that no other robot at this price can match.
Learning and building: the EDU version opens up programming, extra hand joints and more compute for developers and schools.
Being first: it's a real humanoid in your space today.
The honest catch
G1 is not a chore robot. Out of the box it won't fold your laundry or tidy your kitchen; useful home tasks need serious programming. Runtime is about two hours per battery.
Verdict
Buy it if you're a developer, educator or early adopter who wants a capable humanoid platform now. If you want help around the house, reserve a 1X NEO instead.
