Video: Tesla (official) on YouTube
Optimus is the humanoid everyone is watching. Tesla has started low-volume production in Fremont and is putting the first units to work in its own factories before anyone else gets one.
Where it stands
Production: Gen 3 parts entered production in early 2026, with low-volume builds following in Fremont.
First customers: outside business customers come first. Consumer sales are targeted for around late 2027.
Price: Tesla's long-run target is $20,000–30,000 at scale. Early units will cost far more.
Reported specs
About 5 ft 8 in and 125 lb, with 22-degree-of-freedom hands and a 2.3 kWh battery. These come from Tesla presentations and reporting, not a shipping product, so treat them as targets.
The honest catch
There's no preorder, deposit or confirmed price, and Tesla's robot timelines have slipped before. Anyone selling you an Optimus "reservation" today is not Tesla.
Verdict
Worth tracking, not waiting on. If you want a humanoid in 2026, look at 1X NEO or Unitree G1. Join our arrival list and we'll email you the day Tesla opens reservations.
