Mondo Robotics Beni

Beni from Mondo Robotics is a small, fast camera robot: a 4-pound rover with a 4K camera that follows you, chases the action at up to 17.9 mph and films from ground level. Think of it as a drone for the ground, made for sports, pets and family video.

What it does well

• A real camera: 4K at 60fps on a 1/1.3-inch sensor with a 155° field of view.
• Fast and agile: tops out at 17.9 mph and can jump about 10 inches.
• Auto-tracking: locks on to a subject and follows it while recording.
• Grab and go: around 4 lb, about 90 minutes of battery, and 32GB onboard plus microSD.

The honest catch

It isn't waterproof, so keep it away from puddles and pool decks, and it's a pre-order that ships from around November 10. A roving ground-level camera also raises privacy questions in shared spaces, there's no developer kit for tinkerers, and fast wheels and small fingers don't mix, so supervise young kids.
